A new hall plan for aquanale, the International Trade Fair for Sauna. Pool. Ambience, providing optimised connectivity between the aquanale exhibitors in levels one and two of Hall 10 and the exhibitors from the public pools segment at FSB, the International Trade Fair for Amenity Areas, Sports, and Pool Facilities taking place in the adjacent halls moved the approximately 350 companies from the swimming pool and sauna segments into even greater focus for all visitors to the trade fair duo’s 2009 edition.
A look at the results of the visitor survey carried out that year reveals that the changes were very well received. Around 75 per cent of the respondents reported being “very satisfied” to “satisfied” with the degree to which they had achieved their visitor targets in 2009. The consistently positive assessment of the event also resulted in 88 per cent of the visitors surveyed stating they would recommend a visit to a close business associate.
The fact that the number of municipal pool operators was higher than in previous years, combined with the trade fair’s extensive international reach, was also no doubt linked to the physical merger of the pool and sauna sections of aquanale and FSB – a development that had been communicated in great detail around the world in the visitor advertising campaign prior to the event. “This was one of the best aquanale events ever. Above all, the good attendance figures and, in particular, the extraordinarily high-quality profile of both domestic and international visitors were very positive,” commented Bert Granderath, Vice President of the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA) at the time and bsw Vice President and Managing Director of grando GmbH, in the final report for aquanale 2009.

At the Swimming Pool and Wellness Forum, key topics for the public pools segment included “Energy efficiency and sustainability” as well as “Safety and technology”. A special event was devoted to stainless steel – a material that, at that time, was celebrating exactly 40 years of great success in the municipal pool landscape.
The bsw – conceptual partner of aquanale – exhibited with a brand-new trade fair stand, which had been developed in conjunction with Koelnmesse’s stand construction experts. Its overarching modern design allowed the stand to bring together its visitor area – including a reception counter, seating area and kitchen area – with a functional conference space. A particular highlight at the new trade fair stand was the presentation to the winners of the bsw Website Award: Starke GmbH, Reps GmbH, Hesselbach GmbH, Walz GmbH and Jörg Schneider GmbH.
A new bsw publication for end customers made its debut at the trade fair, too. It met with strong interest, in particular among the bsw’s member companies specialising in swimming pool construction, who have since used it in their consultations. The bsw’s Energy Guide offers an overview of the various ways a private pool can be operated on an economical and environmentally friendly basis.
Special notice: The next edition of aquanale will be hosted from 26 to 29 October 2021. It is the tenth edition of aquanale. The globally renowned trade fair within the swimming pool and wellness industry will therefore be celebrating its anniversary.
